Semeen Akhter to Depart as CEO of Engro Powergen Qadirpur
Semeen Akhter will relinquish her position as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited (EPQL), effective June 5, 2025. The company communicated this information in a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.
The official statement read, “We hereby inform you that Semeen Akhter has tendered her resignation from the CEO role at Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited, which will take effect on June 5, 2025.”
The company also mentioned that the Board of Directors will proceed to appoint a successor to the CEO position in due course.
“The company expresses its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Semeen Akhter for her valuable contributions,” the statement added.
EPQL is an independent power producer (IPP) that manages a 217 MW permeate gas-operated facility in Qadirpur, Ghotki. The power plant employs a combined cycle system, featuring a 1+1+1 configuration consisting of one gas turbine, one heat recovery system generator (HRSG), and one steam turbine.
Engro Corporation, via Engro Energy Limited, possesses a 68.9% ownership stake in EPQL.
Semeen Akhter was appointed as the CEO of EPQL on May 1, 2023.
She initially joined Engro Energy in January 2023 as the VP of Business Development, where she contributed to the development of a 400MW hybrid renewable energy project.
Furthermore, she was involved in exploring potential business development avenues related to waste-to-energy initiatives, mineral mining operations, and alternative fuel possibilities.
Boasting over 20 years of varied professional experience, Semeen has worked across numerous sectors and regions, including the Middle East, South Asia, Europe, the USA, Brazil, and Australia.
