England Announces Squads for West Indies White-Ball Series

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has revealed its selections for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies, commencing on May 21.

The tour will feature three T20 Internationals followed by three One-Day Internationals. This series marks the inaugural matches under the leadership of new captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and head coach Charlotte Edwards.

Key Player Exclusions

Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, currently holding the top bowler ranking in both ODIs and T20Is, will be absent as she recovers from a knee ailment.

Coach’s Statement

“Sophie is still not at her peak fitness level following her knee issue,” stated Edwards. “She has recently returned to playing, but lacks sufficient match experience for this series.”

Freya Kemp and Danielle Gibson are also out due to injuries. Lauren Filer, recovering from a knee injury, remains under observation.

Squad Additions and Returns

Issy Wong has earned a recall to the T20I squad after outstanding performances for England Women A in Australia and impressive domestic displays. She is joined by Emily Arlott, a fellow seamer, who has been chosen for both formats and is in line for her international debut.

Batters Alice Davidson-Richards and Emma Lamb make their return to the ODI squad, a reward for their recent strong form. Tammy Beaumont and spinner Linsey Smith, top performers in domestic cricket, have been named in both squads.

Young left-arm pacer Mahika Gaur, who toured Australia without playing, has been included in the ODI series. However, Maia Bouchier, who participated in last year’s Ashes series, has been left out despite a respectable international record.

Series Details

England is set to host the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs, commencing a new chapter under captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and head coach Charlotte Edwards. The series is scheduled to begin on May 21, 2025.
