England Announces Squad for Third Test Against India

LONDON: The England cricket team has revealed its roster for the third Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, with Gus Atkinson rejoining the squad. The pivotal match is scheduled to commence on July 10 at Lord’s, where both teams will compete with the series tied at 1-1.

Atkinson’s inclusion marks his return to the national side since May, following a recovery from a hamstring injury he sustained during the series against Zimbabwe. This injury sidelined him for the One Day Internationals against the West Indies and the initial contests of the current high-profile series against India.

The remainder of the squad mirrors that which was previously selected for the second Test. Jofra Archer was initially named in the squad for the Edgbaston Test. However, after their victory at Headingley, England chose to maintain their lineup, postponing Archer’s return to Test cricket.

India recently equalized the series with a decisive 336-run victory at Edgbaston, following England’s initial five-wicket win in Leeds. The series will continue with the fourth Test at Old Trafford on July 23 and conclude with the fifth Test at the Oval on July 31.
