Overton Returns to England Squad After Lengthy Wait
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed its 14-member squad on Thursday for the opening Test against India, which is set to commence on June 20 at Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham.
All-rounder Jamie Overton has secured a recall to the England team, his first appearance since 2022.
Brydon Carse, Jacob Bethell, and Chris Woakes have also been named in the squad. Gus Atkinson will be absent due to a hamstring injury sustained during the recent Test match against Zimbabwe.
Ben Stokes, having recovered from a hamstring injury during the Zimbabwe Test, will captain England in the five-match series against India. This series marks the beginning of both teams’ campaigns in the new ICC World Test Championship cycle.
