Ederson Dismisses Exit Rumors, Affirms Commitment to Manchester City

Manchester City’s goalkeeper, Ederson, has addressed speculation regarding his potential departure from the club, clarifying that he remains dedicated to the team as he approaches the final year of his current contract.

Ederson’s arrival at City from Benfica in 2017 for a transfer fee of 40 million euros established him as the club’s primary goalkeeper.

Recent reports had linked the Brazilian international with a possible move to the Saudi Pro League, with claims of an enticing offer made in October. However, Ederson has firmly stated that his focus remains on Manchester City.

“My dedication lies here, with City. I am fully committed to pursuing further Premier League success and striving for another Champions League victory. My future remains with the club,” Ederson affirmed.

The goalkeeper, with one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, acknowledged the widespread rumors but dismissed them as unfounded.

“My future is here. While friends often share news with me, the vast majority—around 99%—is inaccurate. I understand the media’s role in generating content for social media engagement, but there is a significant amount of misinformation surrounding my name,” he clarified.

The 31-year-old has secured the Premier League Golden Glove on three occasions for achieving the most clean sheets and has contributed to six English league titles and a Champions League title during his tenure with City.

Pep Guardiola’s squad for the Club World Cup includes three goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega, and Marcus Bettinelli.

Bettinelli joined from Chelsea on a one-year agreement, while Ortega also has 12 months remaining on his current contract.

Ortega has been mentioned in connection with a transfer to the Bundesliga, but he has been hesitant to comment about his plans for the future.
