Strong Earthquake Shakes Islamabad and Other Regions
A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck various parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, late Saturday night at approximately 12:10 am, causing significant tremors.
The National Seismological Centre reported that the earthquake’s origin was at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometres.
The quake’s epicentre was traced to a location 15 kilometres southeast of Rawat.
Notably, this seismic event follows a 5.4 magnitude earthquake felt the previous day in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and numerous cities throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The recent earthquake also caused shocks in Attock, Swabi, and Zafarwal, in addition to northern regions like Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, and Murree.
Tremors extended to Jhelum and several towns within Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well.
At present, there are no immediate reports concerning casualties or property damage resulting from the earthquake.
