High-Speed Dumper Truck Crashes into Bungalow in Karachi
In a recent incident in Karachi, a speeding dumper truck collided with a bungalow near Defence Road, as confirmed by local police authorities.
Law enforcement officials reported that the collision resulted in damage to the bungalow’s perimeter wall after being struck by the vehicle.
Following the incident, police have detained the dumper truck operator, who is now in custody.
According to traffic police sources, the driver attributed the accident to a malfunction in the truck’s braking system.
Traffic police also noted that both the driver and the assistant sustained injuries during the crash.
Over the preceding months, there has been a surge in traffic incidents involving speeding dumper trucks, leading to casualties and injuries among the population.
Earlier in the month, data revealed that approximately 110 individuals in Karachi have died in the last 132 days due to accidents involving large vehicles.
In response to the escalating crisis, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed that all heavy transport vehicles (HTVs), including dumpers, water tankers, and oil tankers, must be outfitted with monitoring cameras and tracking devices.
Furthermore, the Sindh government has implemented restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles during daylight hours and enforced a speed restriction of 30 km/h within the city. Dumpers now face a ban from operating on roads between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
