Dubois Adjusts Training for Usyk Rematch

British boxer Daniel Dubois has disclosed his training methods for his eagerly awaited rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, the world heavyweight champion. The fight is scheduled for Saturday night at Wembley Stadium, and Dubois mentioned he’s been training at night to acclimate to the expected fight conditions.

Their initial encounter occurred in August 2023, where Usyk emerged victorious in Poland via a ninth-round knockout after twice flooring Dubois. However, the match was controversial due to a punch that dropped the Ukrainian but was deemed a low blow by officials.

Since that defeat, Dubois has demonstrated resilience with wins against Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua, leading many experts to predict his victory in the upcoming bout.

The British fighter is exploring every avenue to hand Usyk his first loss, which includes adjusting his training schedule to late evenings instead of early mornings to better simulate the fight environment.

Adapting to Conditions

“It mirrors the fighting conditions, doesn’t it? Plus, it’s much cooler. Training during the day would be sweltering,” Dubois commented.

“I appreciate the warmth. It adds difficulty, but not excessively. It’s manageable now. Manageable, and it’s productive. Good work is always beneficial.”

Dubois shared that he has implemented several adjustments and is optimistic about their effectiveness.

He affirmed his intention to knock out Usyk this time and is prepared to surprise the world.

Changes and Expectations

“We’ve incorporated a few new elements. You’ll witness them materialize on fight night. Currently, it’s about rigorous effort, the daily grind in the gym, and maintaining consistency,” Dubois continued.

“The primary distinction between the first fight and this one is that I intend to knock him out and secure the win. That’s the pivotal change… I’m enthusiastic, but there’s considerable work remaining before the 19th.

“We’re diligently progressing each day. At this moment, I’m remaining grounded and prepared to compete, eager to triumph, ready to astound the world, and seize all the titles.”
