Iran Air Launches Inaugural Flight to Connect Key Cities

Iran Air has initiated its first direct flight connecting Quetta, Zahedan, and Mashhad, establishing a scheduled commercial air link between these historically significant cities.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mohammad Mudassir Tipu, expressed his enthusiasm for the new air service in a statement, noting that it fulfills a longstanding request from residents of the region.

“I am absolutely delighted that Iran Air has started direct Quetta-Zahedan-Mashhad flights, linking three historic cities with enormous potential. These new operations will boost business, tourism, and people-to-people ties,” he said.

Mudassar Tipu also stated, “Given the depth of our geography and economic needs, we will continue to expand air connectivity between Pakistan and Iran”.

The initial flight arrived at Quetta International Airport on Friday. Initially, Iran Air will conduct one flight per week between Quetta and Zahedan.

A ceremony took place at Quetta Airport to commemorate the event.

Last month, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that, due to security issues, Pakistani pilgrims would not be permitted to travel to Iran or Iraq by land for this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage.

The interior minister communicated via his X account that this decision followed extensive discussions involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Balochistan government, and various security agencies.
