Itauma to Face Whyte in Saudi Arabia

According to international media sources on Friday, undefeated heavyweight boxer Moses Itauma is set to clash with fellow British fighter Dillian Whyte in Saudi Arabia on August 16.

Itauma, who holds the top spot in the World Boxing Organization’s heavyweight rankings, has secured victories against 10 of his 12 professional opponents. This upcoming match marks a significant advancement for the fighter hailing from Kent.

Whyte, a boxer of Jamaican-British descent, will step into the ring for the third time since his exoneration following a failed drug test in 2023.

This development surfaces shortly after Dillian Whyte’s manager, Michael Ofo, suggested that Itauma was not the only potential contender for Whyte’s next bout.

Ofo indicated that discussions were ongoing, with Moses being among the fighters under consideration. He stated, “So discussions are still ongoing. We have not committed to anything. Moses is one of the opponents that we are speaking to. But again, Dillian is serious about his business.”

Ofo added that Whyte is eager to compete against top-tier fighters, making a fight against Moses a potentially exciting prospect. He mentioned, “He wants to fight the best fighters; he is not just saying it. And we want to discuss and talk with whoever believes that they’re the best. So, it will be a fantastic fight with him and Moses.”

Whyte’s professional record includes 31 wins out of 34 fights, with previous bouts against notable opponents like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Whyte’s most recent fight was against Ebenezer Tetteh in December 2024. He secured a win at the end of the seventh round in Gibraltar, marking a triumphant return to the sport.
