Pakistani Delegation Arrives in Brussels to Counter Indian Narrative

A distinguished Pakistani parliamentary delegation, spearheaded by former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, has arrived in Brussels, the heart of the European Union. This visit follows successful engagements in Washington, D.C., New York, and London, all aimed at dispelling what they describe as Indian propaganda following recent tensions.

Entrusted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the delegation’s mission is to articulate Pakistan’s viewpoint regarding the recent strain in relations and to underscore the critical need for resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. They advocate for a resolution that aligns with the United Nations Security Council resolutions and respects the desires of the Kashmiri populace, according to a press statement.

Upon their arrival in Brussels, the delegation received a warm welcome from Pakistan’s Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, along with embassy staff.

During their stay in Brussels, the delegation is scheduled to engage in discussions with high-ranking officials from both the European Union and Belgium.

The parliamentary group intends to provide a robust response to what they term an “Indian disinformation campaign” concerning alleged Indian aggression and the broader Indo-Pakistan situation.

The delegation plans to brief European authorities on what they perceive as India’s hostile intentions and aggressive actions towards Pakistan. In addition to these governmental meetings, the delegation is also expected to connect with prominent European think tanks and international media outlets based in Brussels.

The delegation also includes Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Harmony Dr. Musadik Masood Malik; Senator Sherry Rehman, Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Harmony and former Minister for Information and Climate Change; Hina Rabbani Khar, Chairperson of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and former Foreign Minister; Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, former Minister for Commerce, Defence and Foreign Affairs; and Senator Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari, MQM’s Parliamentary Leader in the Senate and former Minister for Maritime Affairs.
