Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Meets with Chinese Counterpart

BEIJING: During a recent high-level diplomatic engagement, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar conveyed his gratitude for China’s consistent backing of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This expression of appreciation occurred during discussions with Liu Jianchao, who serves as the Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC).

This meeting gains significance in the context of the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India. According to a statement released by the DPM’s Office, both parties highlighted the necessity of upholding the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and international law to foster peace and stability in the region.

DPM Dar asserted Pakistan’s inherent entitlement and capacity to protect its territorial sovereignty and the well-being of its citizens. He further highlighted India’s decision to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, urging the global community to acknowledge what he termed an unlawful and provocative action.

He restated that achieving a fair resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir issue, in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, is vital for achieving lasting peace in South Asia.

Dar also acknowledged the IDCPC’s contribution to enhancing connections between the Communist Party of China and various political entities in Pakistan, emphasizing its importance in promoting deeper mutual understanding.

As Pakistan and China prepare to commemorate the 74th anniversary of their diplomatic ties on May 21, both sides have reaffirmed their dedication to preserving their enduring friendship and ensuring its continuation for generations to come.

During the discussions, both leaders concurred on the importance of strengthening ties between Pakistani political parties and the CPC.

Liu Jianchao reiterated China’s commitment to prioritizing its relationship with Pakistan, affirming their status as all-weather strategic cooperative partners and unwavering allies.
