White Confident Jones Doesn’t Avoid Challenges
Dana White, the CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), stated that the situation regarding Jon Jones versus Tom Aspinall should reach a resolution within a couple of weeks.
White has consistently expressed his determination to make the highly anticipated contest between Jones and Aspinall a reality. However, his stance seems to be evolving, suggesting that the matter will be settled by the beginning of next month.
“I’m uncertain; we’ll observe how things develop over the next two weeks. Should we fail to finalize this fight, we will promptly proceed forward. I mentioned a couple of weeks. We will have definitive answers shortly,” White commented.
Jones secured the vacant heavyweight title by defeating Ciryl Gane via submission in the first round at UFC 285 in March 2023. He has since defended the title once against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November 2024.
Nevertheless, White maintains that Jones isn’t a fighter who shies away from competition.
“Since his arrival, Jon Jones has been a complex individual. Yet, I must acknowledge that you wouldn’t hear me praising him as the GOAT if Jon Jones was unwilling to face opponents,” White remarked.
“Jon Jones has never voiced fear of fighting someone or expressed reservations about a particular matchup. Jon Jones has never declined an opponent or been afraid to engage with anyone,” he concluded.
