CTD Operation in Manghopir Results in Deaths of Suspected Terrorists
During an early morning raid in Karachi’s Manghopir vicinity, three alleged terrorists were killed in a firefight with law enforcement, officials from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) stated.
The operation was initiated based on intelligence indicating the presence of members associated with the proscribed militant group, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who were reportedly hiding in a local residence.
As police units cordoned off the identified hideout, the suspects opened fire on the approaching officers, leading to an intense exchange that resulted in the death of all three individuals present.
Speaking to members of the press outside Civil Hospital, CTD DSP Raja Umar Khattab verified that two of the deceased suspects had been identified by name as Zafran and Qudratullah.
Khattab stated, “The government had placed a bounty of Rs20 million for information leading to the capture of Zafran. The identity of the third suspect is still being investigated.”
According to information released by the CTD, one of the militants killed was assessed to be a suicide bomber. Authorities suspect his involvement in an attack targeting Chinese nationals in Karachi that took place last year.
Following the operation, law enforcement recovered explosives, suicide vests, hand grenades, and a diary containing a list of potential targets from the premises. The bomb disposal unit conducted a thorough sweep of the site.
Raja Umar Khattab further clarified that all militants inside the residence were killed and that authorities are currently working to uncover details regarding the property owner who provided shelter to the suspects.
