Committee Formed to Investigate Model Humaira Asghar’s Death

A six-member panel has been established to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the death of actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali, whose body was discovered in a deteriorated state in her Karachi residence earlier this week.

The 32-year-old actress was discovered deceased on July 8 in her apartment, located in the Ittehad Commercial area of Defence Phase VI, where she had resided alone for a period of seven years.

The discovery of her body occurred when a court-appointed official arrived to execute an eviction order due to outstanding rent, following legal action initiated by the property owner.

The autopsy report, compiled by Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed, indicated that the body of the Pakistani actress was severely decomposed, with preliminary assessments suggesting that her death occurred approximately eight to ten months prior.

According to an official statement released today, the investigative committee is led by SP Clifton Imran Jagirani. The team includes SDPO Defence Aurangzeb Khattak, ASP Nida Junaid, SHO Gizri Muhammad Farooq, sub-inspector (SI) Muhammad Amjad, and IT branch constable Muhammad Adeel.

The investigative team will gather evidence to ascertain whether Humaira Asghar’s death resulted from an accident, natural causes, suicide, or potential criminal activity.

The committee has been directed to provide daily updates to the SSP South regarding the progress of the investigation, as stated in the notification.

In a separate development, law enforcement has successfully retrieved data from her various electronic devices as the investigation intensifies.

In a significant breakthrough providing new insights, investigators have gained access to her three cell phones, a tablet, and a laptop.

Authorities stated that the passwords for these devices were found noted in a personal journal located within the room where the actress’s remains were discovered, enabling them to unlock the devices and recover stored information.

To date, two individuals have provided their statements, while two additional persons have been called in for questioning, officials confirmed.

Police have reported that the actress was a regular attendee at a local gym and beauty salon.

Her fitness instructor and other individuals from her inner social circle will also be contacted to assist in reconstructing the timeline of her final days, according to the investigators.

Authorities have also reviewed Humaira’s banking records, transactions, and communication logs, noting that her contact list was relatively small, indicating a close-knit social environment.

Humaira gained recognition through her participation in the reality TV program Tamasha Ghar and further solidified her reputation with her performance in the motion picture Jalaibee.

Her demise follows less than three weeks after the discovery of veteran actress Ayesha Khan, who was found deceased in her apartment situated in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal locality.

News of the death of 84-year-old Ayesha surfaced after neighbours alerted her family to a noticeable odour emanating from her residence.
