Mobile Broadband Services Launched in AJ&K and G-B

All Cellular Mobile Operators have initiated mobile broadband services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), overcoming difficult terrain and severe weather.

Approximately 90 percent of the telecom infrastructure has been modernized with 4G data services, broadening the availability of high-speed mobile broadband in the region.

Sources from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) stated that operators have enabled 4G data on the upgraded sites, fulfilling the PTA’s mandatory rollout requirements. This advancement is poised to greatly improve digital connectivity, stimulate tourism, and enhance socio-economic activities in the remote mountainous areas of AJ&K and GB.

The 2021 spectrum auction specifically required greater coverage in underserved regions. By upgrading networks for data services, the operators have satisfied their license obligations and met a long-term demand from residents for dependable mobile broadband services.
