CM Gandapur Demands Report on Student Death Allegation

Following the reported death of a fifth-grade student allegedly due to corporal punishment inflicted by a private school principal in Jamrud, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, has requested a comprehensive report on the situation.

The incident reportedly occurred during the school’s morning assembly over a trivial matter. Law enforcement has registered a case, and an investigation is currently underway.

Concurrently, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private School Regulatory Authority has directed all private educational institutions to rigorously enforce the prohibition of corporal punishment on school premises.

The Chief Minister has instructed the regulatory body to conduct a fair and transparent investigation and submit its findings. He affirmed that if the accusations are substantiated, the government will take decisive action against those responsible.

Condemning the incident, Gandapur asserted that violence against children within educational settings constitutes a severe offense under the law, and those found culpable deserve no mercy.

He also emphasized the necessity of implementing robust measures to prevent future incidents of violence against children in schools, guaranteeing that justice will be served to the victim’s family.

The KPK private schools regulatory authority has issued letters reminding private school administrators that corporal punishment is forbidden, directing them to ensure this ban is implemented without fail.

The letter also specified that individuals found guilty could face imprisonment for up to six months or a monetary penalty of 50,000 rupees.

Furthermore, schools have been instructed to facilitate awareness campaigns and training programs on this critical issue.
