Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1 Achieves Milestone
The Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1 (C-1) has achieved a continuous operation milestone of 400 days, marking a first in Pakistan’s history.
Previously, Chashma Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Unit-2 (C-2) and C-4 had set records by running continuously for 365 days.
The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) currently manages six nuclear power facilities across the nation, contributing 3530 MW of electricity to the national power grid. Among these, four plants are located in Chashma, near Mianwali, while the remaining two, known as K-2 and K-3, are situated near Karachi.
The successful operation of C-1 NPP is credited to the skill and dedication of PAEC’s team of scientists, engineers, and technicians. At present, the Chashma Nuclear Power Plants (C-1 through C-4) are functioning at high capacity, maintaining optimal availability. The Member Power of PAEC has extended congratulations to the team at the Chashma Nuclear Power Generation Station (CNPGS) for this accomplishment, while also ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.
The stability of the national grid, overseen by the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), has significantly contributed to the uninterrupted operation of the NPP, for which the company is commended.
PAEC is dedicated to achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on SDG-7, which aims to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy.
Since the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP) was connected to the national grid in 1972, PAEC has maintained a commendable operational track record.
