ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Breaks Viewership Records

The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE, has achieved a new milestone as the most-watched edition in the tournament’s history, surpassing all prior viewership figures.

The competition garnered a remarkable 368 billion viewing minutes globally, which is a 19% upsurge from the previous Champions Trophy held in England and Wales in 2017.

The event, which included eight international teams, recorded an unprecedented average of 308 million global viewing minutes per over, marking the highest figure ever for an ICC event.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India secured the Champions Trophy with a flawless performance. They triumphed over Australia, the reigning ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup champions, in an electrifying semi-final and then defeated New Zealand in the final.

The final match against New Zealand on March 9 drew a noteworthy 65.3 billion live viewing minutes across the globe, exceeding the 2017 final’s record by 52.1%.

This particular match stands as the third-most viewed game in ICC history based on global live watch time. In India, it ranked as the third-most viewed ICC match, following the 2023 Cricket World Cup semi-final and final, both of which involved India.

Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah, lauded the tournament’s triumph, stating it demonstrates cricket’s increasing global presence.

Shah commented, “We are pleased to announce that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has reached unparalleled global viewership, making it the most-watched edition of the tournament to date.”

He further noted, “These impressive statistics underscore the growing international allure of cricket and the effectiveness of our collaborations.”

The tournament achieved unprecedented broadcast numbers not only worldwide but also in prominent cricket-loving nations, including Australia, India, and Pakistan. Additionally, it successfully penetrated emerging markets.

India’s broadcast featured the return of the award-winning Indian Sign Language feed and Audio Descriptive Commentary, improving accessibility for a broader audience and contributing to the tournament becoming the most-watched Champions Trophy in the country.

In Australia, the Champions Trophy reached record viewership, with viewing hours increasing by 65% compared to the last tournament.

The addition of a Hindi language feed on Amazon Prime Video aided the platform in attaining its highest ICC event viewership to date.

Despite Pakistan, a co-host, not replicating their 2017 success on the field, viewership within the country saw a 24% increase during the 2025 event.

In the United States, fans overcame unfavorable match timings to achieve a substantial increase in live viewership compared to 2017.
