Islamabad authorities have taken a significant step to support citizens by abolishing all charges for grave digging and coffin carrier bus services. This policy has been introduced to help families manage funeral arrangements with dignity and without financial strain. Under the new arrangement, grave digging in city-managed graveyards will be provided free of cost and coffin carrier buses will be available at no charge to ensure respectful transport of the deceased to burial sites. More coffin carrier buses are being added to meet the needs of residents, and upgrades in graveyard facilities are also underway to maintain a clean and orderly environment during funeral proceedings.

This decision is part of a wider package of welfare initiatives recently approved by the Capital Development Authority. Alongside burial support, reforms in hospital services and other civic facilities have been introduced to improve quality of life for citizens. The policy removes a significant financial burden from grieving families and highlights the city’s focus on compassionate, citizen-centered governance. Community members have welcomed the initiative as a meaningful shift toward public welfare.
