The Directorate of Municipal Administration of Islamabad has achieved a milestone by raising record revenues through the auction of two prominent bus stands in G-9 and I-11. The process was overseen by DMA Director Anam Fatima and described by officials as historic and fully transparent.
The contract for the G-9 bus stand was awarded at Rs 81.60 million per year a figure that more than doubles the last recovery amount of Rs 37.90 million. The I-11 bus stand fetched Rs 38 million annually which is a dramatic increase from Rs 6.50 million earlier this year an over four hundred percent rise. Both contracts span three years with a mandatory annual increment of ten percent.
Officials say the success comes after years of failed auctions and monopolistic practices that allowed these bus stands to operate under a self-recovery model. Reforms in bidding procedures strict monitoring and enhanced revenue management were key factors in restoring contractor interest and investor confidence. Contractors who participated welcomed the allocation process calling it unprecedented in its merit based and transparent nature.
The CDA Chairman Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa praised the performance of Anam Fatima and her team. He said this result reflects a strong commitment to sustainable financial management and transparency. He expressed the view that such initiatives will continue to shape the development of Islamabad improving civic amenities and contributing to the vision of making Islamabad a top capital city globally.
