Teenager and Suspected Robber Killed in Karachi Gunfight

Tragedy struck in Karachi’s Orangi Town as a 14-year-old boy and an alleged robber were killed in a shootout on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when a resident intervened during a robbery attempt.

Details of the Incident

The young victim, identified as Hussain, lost his life during a street robbery in Orangi Town, within the jurisdiction of the Pakistan Bazaar police station. Authorities reported that two individuals on a motorcycle were attempting to rob a passerby when a local resident, Shahenshah Hasan, responded by firing his licensed weapon.

The gunfire resulted in the immediate death of one suspect, while the other managed to escape with injuries. Sadly, Hussain, the son of a man named Ali, was caught in the crossfire and fatally wounded.

Investigation and Aftermath

Police have recovered a firearm and ammunition from the deceased suspect. The citizen’s licensed pistol has been taken into custody for forensic examination. Efforts to identify the fleeing suspect are ongoing as investigations continue.

According to family members, the exchange of gunfire took place near a mosque in the Gulshan-e-Bihar area. The victim’s maternal uncle told reporters that the robbers tried to steal Hussain’s mobile phone. When Hussain attempted to stop the robber, he was shot multiple times.

Hussain was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. He was the third of four siblings, a Hafiz-e-Quran, and a student of religious studies aspiring to become an aalim.

The bereaved family has appealed to the government, seeking justice for Hussain’s death. Hussain’s brother expressed his sorrow and demanded justice for his younger brother.

The incident has cast a pall of shock and grief over the family and local community. Police have yet to release additional details regarding their investigation into the robbery and shooting.

Another Robbery-Related Death

In a separate incident, a 50-year-old man named Irfan, who was injured while resisting a robbery on Tuesday, died in the hospital on Wednesday. The incident occurred near Noor-ul-Islam Masjid in Korangi when motorcycle-riding robbers opened fire during a mugging attempt. Irfan was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have stated that the charges in the case will be upgraded to include murder. The search for the suspects is underway using technical methods.

With these recent fatalities, the number of individuals killed in Karachi due to robberies this year has reached 33.
