Bilawal Claims Diplomatic Victory Over India After Tensions
Following a diplomatic tour across Europe and the United States in the wake of recent clashes between Pakistan and India, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari stated that Islamabad achieved victory against New Delhi both militarily and diplomatically. Upon his return to Pakistan on Friday, Bilawal was greeted by PPP leaders and supporters in Karachi.
During the 11-day international trip, the high-level delegation, led by Bilawal, engaged with key global capitals. The delegation presented Pakistan’s perspective, emphasizing what it described as New Delhi’s provocations and acts of aggression against Islamabad.
The delegation also communicated to the global community the possible destabilizing effects of India’s increasingly aggressive stance in South Asia.
Other members of the parliamentary delegation included Hina Rabbani Khar, Sherry Rehman, Dr. Musadik Malik, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Jalil Abbas Jilani, Tehmina Janjua, Bushra Anjum Butt, and Syed Faisal Subzwari.
Addressing party members, Bilawal mentioned that the high-level delegation visited important cities in the US, UK, and Europe under the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.
Bilawal asserted that the delegation conveyed Pakistan’s message promoting peace, its position on the Kashmir issue, the Indus Waters Treaty, and efforts to combat terrorism.
The former foreign minister attributed the country’s diplomatic success to the dedication of Pakistani ambassadors worldwide.
Bilawal criticized the response of the previous government under Imran Khan to a prior Indian action in 2019, suggesting it was inadequate.
He asserted that Islamabad responded decisively to New Delhi on the battlefield and in diplomatic discussions, especially after the use of the Kashmir situation.
“Our achievement is that the world now acknowledges that the Kashmir issue is not just bilateral but a global concern,” Bilawal commented, referring to former US President Trump’s offer to mediate.
He further stated that recognition from the US military regarding Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and acknowledgment of Islamabad as a “phenomenal partner in the war against terror” confirmed the success of his diplomatic mission.
Bilawal noted that shortly after his delegation concluded its visit to the US, President Trump invited Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to the White House for a meeting.
He concluded by saying that Pakistan achieved success after its engagement with India.
Cross-border exchanges occurred last month after an incident in Pahalgam in IIOJK. Following this, New Delhi conducted airstrikes within Pakistan, which then retaliated through Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. After roughly 87 hours, a ceasefire mediated by the United States brought an end to hostilities on May 10.
