PTA Issues Alert Regarding Phishing Scams

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a critical alert, warning the public about an increase in phishing schemes. These scams involve fraudsters who pose as PTA representatives to steal private data.

The PTA clarified that it never asks for sensitive information like passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs), or online account details through calls, emails, or messages.

“Be vigilant! The PTA will never request your personal information, passwords, or OTPs via phone call, email, or text message. Protect yourself and remain alert,” the regulator stated.

The PTA has advised people to be very careful with fraudulent calls, emails, and texts intended to trick them into revealing private data. The public is urged to avoid clicking on unknown links or giving personal details to unverified sources.

To counter these deceptive practices, the PTA has shared contact information for reporting incidents:

  • [Contact Numbers Redacted]

The agency emphasized the significance of securing personal information and immediately reporting any questionable activity to help stop these harmful attempts.
