Rajeev Shukla to Virtually Represent BCCI at ACC AGM
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will participate in the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) through a virtual platform, according to reports from Indian media.
Reports indicate that Vice-President Rajeev Shukla will represent the BCCI, attending the meeting via video conference. Meanwhile, representatives from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka.
This development signifies a notable change in the BCCI’s position, as it, along with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Oman Cricket, had previously expressed opposition to holding the AGM in Dhaka. The AGM is scheduled for July 24.
Despite these initial reservations, the ACC, under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, decided to keep Dhaka as the venue. This decision aligns with the ongoing three-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, ensuring the presence of several council representatives in the city during the meeting.
The ACC President has already arrived in the capital of Bangladesh to preside over this important gathering. Upon his arrival, Naqvi was welcomed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan.
Sources indicate that the ACC plans to host a formal dinner in Dhaka later today, honoring the officials and dignitaries attending the event.
Additionally, the meeting will address the future of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025, scheduled for September.
The tournament’s execution is currently uncertain due to political tensions and internal lobbying efforts.
Reportedly, the BCCI is actively working to disrupt the event, which could result in a revenue loss exceeding PKR 1.25 billion for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
These actions are also viewed as an attempt to undermine Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB Chairman and current President of the ACC.
