BCB Confident India Tour Will Proceed as Planned

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has refuted claims circulating in Indian media suggesting the potential cancellation of India’s scheduled tour to Bangladesh in August.

Recent reports in Indian media had speculated that the tour might be reconsidered due to growing political unrest and security concerns within the region.

However, BCB officials have expressed certainty that the series will occur as originally planned.

Speculation about India withdrawing from the tour arose following recent political developments in Bangladesh, along with heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

A source, as mentioned in The Times of India, noted that while the tour is on the calendar, final confirmation is pending, raising the possibility of India not touring Bangladesh for the ODIs and T20Is due to the present circumstances.

Despite such assertions, the BCB has dismissed any doubts surrounding the tour.

In a declaration to The Daily Sun, BCB’s Cricket Operations Chairman and Board Director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim stated that the BCCI and BCB enjoy a cordial relationship, expressing confidence that the series will proceed as scheduled.

India is set to visit Bangladesh for a six-match white-ball series in August, featuring three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The ODI series will commence with matches on August 17 and 20 at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, followed by the third ODI in Chattogram on August 23.

Following the ODI series, the T20Is will begin in Chattogram on August 26, with the last two matches scheduled for Dhaka on August 29 and 31.

Bangladesh is scheduled to start an eventful international season with a two-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Sharjah on May 17 and 19.

After the matches in Sharjah, the team will journey to Pakistan for a five-match T20I series before proceeding to Sri Lanka for two Tests, three ODIs, and two T20Is.

The T20I series against Pakistan will span across Faisalabad and Lahore from May 25 to June 3.

Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which recently hosted the Champions One-Day Cup and the National T20 Cup, will host the initial two matches on May 25 and 27.

The Bangladesh team is anticipated to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 and will practice at Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24.
