Yamal Extends Barcelona Stay with New Six-Year Deal
BARCELONA: Lamine Yamal has committed to Barcelona for the long term, signing a six-year contract extension on Tuesday after a remarkable season where his contributions helped the team secure a domestic treble.
With his previous contract expiring at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, Barcelona proactively offered Yamal a new agreement that will keep him at the club until 2031.
Yamal, who made his debut for Barca in 2023 at the age of 15, has impressively tallied 18 goals and provided 25 assists in 55 appearances this season. His efforts were instrumental in Hansi Flick’s squad winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Barcelona conveyed that the contract renewal of Yamal highlights the club’s dedication to a sustained, long-range strategy.
Club Statement
“The renewal of Yamal’s contract is a testament to the strength of Barca’s vision. His rise to prominence in global football is unparalleled,” the club stated.
“Hailing from Mataro, near Barcelona, he has burst onto the global football scene with performances that have already made their mark in Barcelona’s history,” the club added.
Yamal, who has scored 25 goals in 115 appearances for Barcelona, also holds records as the youngest scorer in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. Furthermore, he is the youngest player to reach 100 appearances for Barca.
Yamal, who will turn 18 in July, has rapidly ascended to global stardom. Beyond his achievements with the club, he also played a key role in Spain’s victory at the European Championship last summer, adding to his growing list of accomplishments.
Following his outstanding season, football analysts have drawn comparisons between him and legendary players such as Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Ronaldinho.
