Bangladesh Gears Up for T20I Series Against Netherlands Ahead of Asia Cup 2025

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its 15-member team for the upcoming three-match T20I series at home against the Netherlands, along with the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28.

A notable inclusion in the squad is wicketkeeper batter Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, marking his return after being absent for three years.

The 31-year-old player previously represented Bangladesh at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Sohan’s selection is the only adjustment to the Bangladesh team that achieved a 2-1 series victory against Pakistan on their home ground last month.

He takes the place of all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who managed to score only 64 runs and secure four wickets in five T20Is this year.

Miraz will still be involved with the Bangladesh team as one of the four reserve players for the Asia Cup 2025.

Meanwhile, opener Md Naim Sheikh was unable to keep his position in the Bangladesh squad, which has been trimmed to 15 players.

Sheikh is currently participating in the Top End T20 Series in Darwin, Australia, playing for Bangladesh ‘A’, where he has scored 79 runs in five games.

Bangladesh, positioned in Group B, will begin their Asia Cup 2025 journey with a match against Hong Kong on September 11, followed by games against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on September 13 and 16, respectively.

Before the continental tournament, the Tigers will play a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands. All matches will be hosted at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on August 30, September 1, and 3.
