Second T20I to Proceed with Mourning Observances

MIRPUR: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has declared that the second T20I match between Bangladesh and Pakistan will proceed on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, but will be observed as a National Mourning Day.

This decision follows Monday’s devastating incident where a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed on the grounds of a Dhaka school and college, resulting in at least 20 fatalities and 171 injuries.

According to military sources, the accident occurred shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue.

The day is dedicated to honoring the memory of the victims of the Milestone air disaster. The BCB has arranged multiple tributes to commemorate those who perished.

Mourning Observances
  • The national flag will be displayed at half-mast at the stadium, as well as at all other BCB locations.
  • Special prayers will be conducted to remember the victims.
  • A moment of silence will be held prior to the match’s commencement.
  • Players and officials will wear black armbands.
  • To ensure a solemn atmosphere, no music will be played during the game.

The hosts are currently ahead in the three-match T20I series 1-0, having shown dominance in the opening match on Sunday.

The Bengal Tigers bowled out Pakistan for 110, successfully chasing the target thanks to Parvez Hossain Emon’s match-winning half-century.

The series’ third and final match is slated to be played at the same venue on July 24.
