Bangladesh to Face Pakistan in T20I Series
The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to commence on July 20.
Bangladesh’s captain, Litton Das, addressed a press conference following the third T20I against Sri Lanka, acknowledging the formidable nature of Pakistan’s bowling unit and describing the upcoming series as a stern test.
He pointed out that playing conditions in Dhaka could pose challenges, reinforcing the difficulty of the task at hand against Pakistan.
“Securing both series wins carries immense value. Achieving victories in both the West Indies and Sri Lanka is truly commendable,” he stated.
Das highlighted the familiarity of Pakistani players with local conditions due to their participation in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), suggesting the series would be closely contested.
“Facing Pakistan in Mirpur will be a tough assignment. Their bowling attack offers variety, and they possess a solid understanding of our conditions, largely thanks to the BPL. However, we maintain our belief in our chances if we execute smart cricket,” Das commented.
Das voiced uncertainty regarding the behavior of the pitch against Pakistan. However, he indicated that consistent rainfall in Dhaka might complicate batting conditions.
“Predicting the Mirpur wicket’s characteristics for the Pakistan series is difficult. Regular rainfall in Dhaka could create challenging batting conditions,” he explained.
Pakistan is slated to engage in three T20Is against Bangladesh on July 20, 22, and 24, with all matches taking place at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
This series marks a repeat encounter following their previous clash in May, where Pakistan secured a 3-0 series victory on their home turf.
Earlier in the week, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed the ticket prices for the series, spanning from Tk 300 to Tk 3,500 to accommodate a wide spectrum of fans.
The BCB is implementing a digital-first strategy for ticket distribution. Starting July 15, tickets will be sold exclusively online through the designated eTicket platform.
