BCB Weighs T20I Series in Pakistan Amid PSL Monitoring
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is carefully observing the Bangladeshi players participating in the ongoing PSL 10 in Pakistan. A definitive decision regarding the scheduled five-match T20I series, which is to commence on May 25, has not yet been reached.
The BCB communicated in a statement on Wednesday that it is actively communicating with both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh High Commission located in Islamabad. The purpose is to ensure the well-being and protection of its players currently engaged in the tournament.
Currently, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who is playing for Lahore Qalandars, along with fast bowler Nahid Rana, who represents Peshawar Zalmi, are the two Bangladeshi cricketers taking part in the league.
The board conveyed in a formal statement that, ‘The BCB is maintaining close contact with the PCB and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to make certain that every essential precaution is in place, guaranteeing the safety of our players.’
BCB President Faruque Ahmed stated to a local media outlet that the board is adopting a cautious, observational strategy. They will evaluate the unfolding circumstances in the coming days before reaching a conclusive verdict.
‘We are actively addressing the present conditions concerning the potential tour to Pakistan for the T20I series and can afford to wait another three to four days,’ Faruque mentioned.
He further added, ‘We should monitor the progress of the situation; however, our primary concern at this moment centers around the two players, Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain, who are presently participating in the PSL in Pakistan.’
In other news, the BCB recently revealed its 16-member team for the forthcoming T20I tours in both the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan.
Litton Das has been appointed as the captain, subsequent to Najmul Hossain Shanto’s choice to resign from the position earlier this year. Mahedi Hasan will take on the role of vice-captain for both tours.
Bangladesh is initially scheduled to tour the UAE for a pair of T20Is, with games scheduled to take place in Sharjah on May 17 and 19.
Following the UAE matches, the team will proceed to Pakistan, where a five-match T20I series is planned from May 25 to June 3.
