Road accidents involving passenger buses and heavy vehicles are a recurring issue in Pakistan, often attributed to various contributing factors.
In a recent occurrence, approximately 15 individuals sustained injuries in a collision between a passenger bus and a water tanker near the Police Training Centre in Razzaqabad, Landhi, on the National Highway in Karachi.
The passengers, all from a single family residing in Orangi Town, were traveling to Kalri Lake for a picnic. The collision resulted in injuries to over 15 people.
The accident transpired when a water tanker, while attempting to overtake the bus, began honking and applying pressure from behind. Consequently, the speeding bus driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off course and crash into the sidewalk.
Prior to this, 16 lives were lost, and numerous individuals were injured when a passenger bus plummeted into a ravine near the Bola Khan police station in Sindh’s Jamshoro district.
Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Qadri reported that the bus was transporting workers from the Bheel community who were returning home after concluding wheat harvesting work in Balochistan.
