Babar Scores 16 in His 100th Game

RAWALPINDI: Peshawar Zalmi’s captain, Babar Azam, marked a significant milestone on Sunday, becoming the first cricketer in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history to play 100 matches.

The renowned batsman reached this landmark during Peshawar Zalmi’s crucial match against Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Babar’s PSL journey began with Islamabad United in the league’s inaugural season, where he also clinched the title.

He then joined Karachi Kings, representing them for five seasons and securing another title in 2020.

In 2023, the right-handed batsman was traded to Zalmi, marking one of the most significant transfers in league history.

Across his 100 PSL appearances, Babar has amassed 3792 runs, the most in the league, with an impressive average of 44.95, including two centuries and 36 half-centuries.

However, Babar’s milestone match saw him dismissed by Sikandar Raza for just 16 runs from 13 balls, featuring three boundaries.

His dismissal left Zalmi struggling at 42/4 in 5.3 overs, chasing a revised target of 150 in a rain-shortened 13-over game.

At the time of reporting, Zalmi stood at 63/7 in eight overs, with Daniel Sams and Ahmed Daniyal at the crease.
