In an assertive and bold response to Barrister Saif’s recent statement, Azma Bukhari, the Information Minister of Punjab, has questioned the political stance on corruption and accountability. She raised the issue of money laundering, pointing out that accepting 458 kanal of land, 28 crore in cash, and a 5-carat diamond ring in exchange for illegal financial dealings should not be overlooked as corruption.

Azma Bukhari emphasized that if these are not considered benefits, then what exactly are langar khanas (free kitchens) and musafir khanas (guest houses)? She challenged the opposition’s claims, suggesting that the true beneficiaries are those involved in financial misconduct.

Additionally, she critiqued the political opponents who accuse others of corruption, claiming that the ones who hide behind such allegations are running away from accountability. “A thief cannot escape justice, and that is why they are fleeing from the courts,” Bukhari stated firmly.

The Information Minister also shed light on how financial dealings are being disguised under the banner of Shaukat Khanum Trust and Al-Qadir Trust. This raised further questions about the authenticity of financial transactions and charitable operations associated with these entities.

Azma Bukhari made it clear that those engaged in deceitful practices are far from being well-wishers of the nation. She added, “Corrupt families will not be able to run from accountability for long. The truth will always come out.”

As a prominent voice in Punjab’s political landscape, Azma Bukhari continues to push for transparency, stressing the need for firm accountability measures to root out corruption at all levels of government
