Evacuation Order Issued in Bajaur Ahead of Anti-Terror Operation

Authorities in the Bajaur tribal district announced Thursday the ordered evacuation of inhabitants from several towns and villages in anticipation of a focused operation aimed at militants.

As per a statement from the district administration, individuals residing in areas including Malangi, Sparay, Dawowgai, Mena Sulaimankhel, Khwarchai, Chamyar Jowar, Zagai, Gat, Agra, Ghundai, Zarray, Nakhtar, Mulla Kalay, Bakro, Gwati, Chamyalo, Lar Kulan, Bar Kulan, Ghanam Shah, Chotra, Dammadola, Sultan Baig, Inam Khwaro, and Anga have been directed to leave their residences by 10 am on August 16, 2025, for a temporary period and seek refuge in secure locations.

The purpose of this relocation, according to the statement, is to safeguard the public during the impending targeted operation against terrorists.

The district administration has organized transport options for those affected, facilitating their movement to the Sports Complex Camp and various other government facilities.

Residents of the aforementioned locations are encouraged to utilize the transportation provided by the district administration. In situations where government transport is insufficient, inhabitants are advised to use private transport to reach safe zones promptly. Each family will receive transport, sustenance, and return grants.

The announcement stressed that public cooperation is vital for ensuring a swift and secure evacuation, which will enable the area to be cleared of subversive and hostile elements.

In related news, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) estimates that as many as 56,000 families could be displaced from Bajaur because of the current circumstances. Over 24,000 families have already been displaced.

The PDMA also indicated that approximately 2,000 families are currently accommodated in government buildings and makeshift relief camps, with provisions of essential resources and services.

It is estimated that around 22,000 families have sought refuge with relatives and extended family.

Acknowledging the increasing humanitarian needs, the provincial government has allocated Rs1.9 billion to bolster relief and rehabilitation measures for the displaced populace.
