Security Forces Eliminate Six Terrorists in KP Operations
RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that security forces killed at least six terrorists during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.
According to the military’s media wing, an operation was carried out in the Razmak general area of North Waziristan district, based on reports of terrorist presence.
“During the operation, our troops effectively engaged the location of the militants, resulting in five being neutralized,” the ISPR stated.
In a separate IBO conducted in South Waziristan District, security forces eliminated commander Zabi Ullah Zakran, who was actively involved in multiple terrorist acts against security forces and the targeted killings of innocent civilians.
Authorities noted that the slain commander was highly sought after by law enforcement agencies.
Currently, sanitisation operations are underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists, as security forces are determined to eradicate terrorism from the country.
Since the return of the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has experienced a significant surge in attacks, primarily in KP and Balochistan. Islamabad asserts that hostile groups are planning attacks from Afghan territory.
Data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) indicates that terror attacks in January 2025 increased by 42% compared to the previous month.
The data revealed at least 74 militant attacks were recorded nationwide, causing 91 fatalities, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants. Additionally, 117 individuals were wounded, including 53 security forces personnel, 54 civilians, and 10 militants.
KP was the most affected province, followed by Balochistan. In KP’s settled districts, militants perpetrated 27 attacks, resulting in 19 deaths, including 11 security personnel, six civilians, and two militants.
The tribal districts of KP (formerly Fata) experienced 19 attacks, which led to 46 deaths, including 13 security personnel, eight civilians, and 25 militants.
