ACC AGM Concludes, Decision on 2025 Asia Cup Soon
DHAKA: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) successfully held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) with the participation of all 25 member nations on Thursday.
ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, during a press briefing after the meeting, expressed appreciation to the attendees and acknowledged the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for their hospitality.
“I want to extend my thanks to the BCB for their gracious hospitality and to all member countries for their proactive engagement,” Naqvi stated.
He underscored the shared dedication of all member nations to promote cricket across the Asian continent.
“We’ve resolved to collaborate for the overall improvement of cricket,” he added.
Naqvi characterized the two-day session as both productive and unforgettable.
“These past two days have been truly memorable. Everyone wants to keep politics out—the meeting was conducted in a very constructive atmosphere.”
Addressing the Asia Cup 2025, Naqvi affirmed that a conclusive decision will be reached shortly, noting that discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are still in progress.
“An announcement regarding the Asia Cup will be made soon,” he mentioned. “Discussions with the Indian Cricket Board are progressing, and we anticipate a resolution in the near future.”
Responding to concerns about certain absentees, Naqvi clarified that while not all individuals could be physically present, every member board had representation.
“Some individuals were unable to travel to Dhaka—that’s understandable. I myself once missed a meeting in Singapore. Sometimes it arises from scheduling issues, but the key point is that all member boards were represented.”
Emphasizing the significance of unity and teamwork, Naqvi stressed the collective responsibility to advance cricket within the region.
“This is a collaborative effort, and we’ll continue to organize similar gatherings going forward,” he concluded.
He also verified that discussions with the Bangladesh Board on various topics are currently underway.
“Kindly await the official announcement,” he finalized.
