Arturo Gatti Jr. Passes Away, Son of Boxing Legend
The World Boxing Association (WBA) has acknowledged the unfortunate passing of Arturo Gatti Jr., son of the renowned boxing icon Arturo Gatti.
Reports from international media indicate that Gatti Jr. was found deceased in an apartment. Initial findings suggest the cause of death was hanging.
An official autopsy report and confirmation of the circumstances surrounding his death are still pending from the authorities.
The World Boxing Association conveyed their sadness regarding the passing of Arturo Gatti Jr., and expressed sorrow for the loss of a young life.
The organization released a statement: “The WBA, along with the boxing community, grieves the loss of Arturo Gatti Jr. Though his journey was just beginning, his spirit will endure. He is now reunited with his legendary father.”
Gatti Jr. aspired to compete in the Olympics as an amateur boxer before turning professional, with the goal of following in his father’s footsteps.
In July 2009, Arturo Gatti Sr., at the age of 37, was found dead in a hotel in Brazil under unclear circumstances.
Following an investigation, Brazilian police declared Gatti Sr.’s death a homicide, and his wife, Rodrigues, was initially charged with his murder.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman shared his condolences on the death of Gatti Jr., mentioning that the entire boxing community mourns this loss and extends sympathy to the Gatti family.
Sulaiman stated, “The World Boxing Council and the global boxing community join in prayer for the loss of Arturo Gatti Jr. at the young age of 17. May he rest in peace, and may his family find solace.”
