Arshad Nadeem Receives Best Asian Athlete Award

GUMI: Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s esteemed javelin thrower and Olympian, has been awarded the Best Asian Athlete Award by Asian Athletics. The presentation took place at an official ceremony held on Sunday in Gumi, South Korea.

The accolade acknowledges Nadeem’s remarkable achievements and impact on athletics within Asia.

The ceremony followed the Asian athletics gathering in South Korea, underscoring his prominence among the continent’s top athletes.

Arshad is preparing to participate in the forthcoming Asian Athletics Championship in South Korea, where he will continue to represent Pakistan.

Several notable figures attended the event, including Major General (Retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Chairman of South Asian Athletics, who was present during the award presentation. Brigadier (Retd) Wajahat Hussain Sahi, President of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, was also in attendance. Secretary Colonel (Retd) Shahjahan and Salman Iqbal Butt were among the other attendees.

This award enhances Arshad’s growing list of accomplishments and emphasizes Pakistan’s increasing significance in athletics.

Notably, Arshad is Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medalist and the country’s first athletics medalist at the Summer Games. He secured the Gold Medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a record throw of 92.97m.

To date, he has earned four gold, one silver, and four bronze medals across various competitions, including the Olympics, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Islamic Solidarity Games, South Asian Games, and Asian U20 Championships.
