Arsenal Set to Finalize Gyokeres Signing

Premier League’s Arsenal is on the verge of securing striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, according to reports circulating in international media on Friday.

This agreement would put an end to prolonged speculation regarding the transfer, with Gyokeres scheduled for a medical examination on Saturday.

Reports suggest that Arsenal has settled on a transfer fee of €73 million ($86m) for the Swedish international.

Previously, the striker’s transfer faced delays due to ongoing discussions between the two clubs concerning additional contract clauses.

The deal is now expected to be finalized this week, with his former club accepting an upfront payment of approximately €63m, accompanied by €10m in potential add-ons.

Gyokeres is slated to inherit the No. 14 jersey, a number of great significance within the club due to its association with Thierry Henry, the club’s all-time leading goalscorer. Impressively, the striker has recorded 68 league goals in just 66 appearances for Sporting CP.

Earlier in July, British media outlets indicated that the clubs had reached an initial agreement; however, disagreements persisted concerning the specifics of the possible add-ons. These issues have now been successfully resolved.

Gyokeres maintained a strong focus on joining Arsenal, and despite receiving interest from other parties late in the process, he remained committed to Arsenal. Furthermore, the Swedish player’s agent reportedly relinquished his commission to facilitate the transfer, and Gyokeres is poised to commit to a five-year contract.

Following the achievement of a final agreement with Sporting, the transfer was always expected to proceed swiftly, given that Gyokeres had already agreed to personal terms and a five-year contract with Arsenal.

Under the guidance of new sporting director Andrea Berta, Arsenal has been actively engaged during the current summer transfer window.
