COAS Lauds Participants at International Army Competition

RAWALPINDI: General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), commended the teams participating in the 8th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition for their expertise, both physical and mental resilience, and strong morale, according to a statement released on Saturday by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The army chief, who was present at the closing ceremony, emphasized the significance of mutual learning during such events. He noted that PATS is an ideal platform for integrating military skills with tactical understanding, fostering essential teamwork in the context of modern warfare.

“In this regard, the Pakistan Army maintains the values of ‘character, courage, and competence,’ which our soldiers have demonstrated in the fight against terrorism,” General Munir stated.

According to the military’s media division, the rigorous 60-hour exercise aimed to improve combat capabilities through the exchanging of new ideas and experiences among participants.

The exercise, which took place from April 14 to April 18, was held in the semi-mountainous region of Punjab. Over the years, it has become a renowned and highly competitive military activity for allied nations.

Seven teams from the Pakistan Army, one from the Pakistan Navy, and fifteen teams from friendly countries like Bahrain, Belarus, China, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Morocco, Nepal, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the United States of America, and Uzbekistan took part.

In addition, representatives from Bangladesh, Egypt, Germany, Kenya, Myanmar, and Thailand attended as observers.

COAS also presented awards to individual participants and teams. International observers and Defence Attachés from participating nations attended the event and praised its professional execution.
