Leeds United Secure Anton Stach in £17m Deal

Leeds United has formally announced the acquisition of Anton Stach from Hoffenheim, a German club, for a sum of £17 million. The 26-year-old German midfielder, who has played for his country on two occasions, has committed to a four-year deal.

This marks the sixth addition to Leeds’ squad this summer, following their promotion to the Premier League after their Championship victory last season.

Stach joins Sebastiaan Bornauw, Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Lukas Nmecha, and Sean Longstaff in joining Daniel Farke’s team for the 2025-26 season.

Anton Stach expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Premier League club, stating, “I am thrilled to be joining such a great team, a top Premier League team, and I’m eager for the upcoming season.”

“Regarding my playing style, I’d describe myself as an aggressive player. I excel in duels and have a knack for anticipating passes from opponents, which I believe will be beneficial in the Premier League. I will give it my all.”

Stach, along with Felix Nmecha, contributed to Germany’s victory in the European Under-21 Championship in 2021.

The German player mentioned that his objective is to maintain their league status and continue to improve. “The main goal is to stay in the league and, on a personal level, to develop, adapt to the league, and its pace, and hopefully gain valuable experiences,” he added.

Stach moved to Hoffenheim from Mainz in 2023 and participated in 71 matches for the club over two seasons. He played a crucial role in helping the Bundesliga club avoid relegation last season, as Hoffenheim finished 15th.

Hoffenheim’s sporting director, Andreas Schicker, acknowledged the midfielder’s departure, praising his consistent high-quality performances. “Anton is an exceptional player who has consistently performed well during his time here at Hoffenheim over the last two seasons,” Schicker stated.

“He’s also a remarkable individual, always dedicated to the team and instrumental in our survival last season.”
