Pakistan Strengthens Commitment to World Bank Cooperation

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with the World Bank. The goal is to foster a Pakistan that is resilient, inclusive, and prepared for the future.

During a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, Iqbal spoke with Bolorma Amgaabazar, the newly appointed Country Director of the World Bank. Najy Benhassine, the outgoing Country Director, was also present.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal welcomed Amgaabazar and expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s continued collaboration. He also acknowledged Benhassine’s significant contribution to strengthening development cooperation during his tenure. Iqbal voiced confidence that this positive trend will persist under Amgaabazar’s leadership, particularly given the evolving priorities outlined in Pakistan’s long-term development plan.

Iqbal highlighted the government’s launch of the URAAN Pakistan initiative. This comprehensive development framework aims to transform Pakistan into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. The initiative is based on five strategic pillars, known as the 5Es: Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment and Climate Resilience, Energy and Infrastructure, and Equity, Ethics, and Empowerment. It prioritizes effective governance, inclusive progress, and public sector reform.
