Cereal Association of Pakistan Delegation Embarks on Bangladesh Visit to Boost Agricultural Exports
A 14-member delegation from the Cereal Association of Pakistan (CAP) is scheduled to leave for Bangladesh on Saturday for a week-long visit. The mission is to investigate potential export prospects for agricultural goods such as rice, maize, and spices.
This marks the initial visit by maize traders, which comes after notable advancements in trade relations between the two nations.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is supporting the delegation, which is being headed by Muzammil Rauf Chappal, the founding chairman of CAP. The delegation will visit Dhaka and Chittagong during their stay, where they will engage with various trade organizations, government representatives, and business leaders to evaluate market needs and possible collaborations.
According to Chappal, Bangladesh is a promising market for cereals and food items from Pakistan. Recent political developments in Bangladesh have improved bilateral connections, and Pakistan successfully shipped 50,000 tons of rice earlier this year at the government level.
He stated that Bangladesh has expressed interest in importing more food products from Pakistan, and the delegation is visiting to examine export possibilities.
Chappal thanked TDAP for facilitating the visit and emphasized the necessity of such projects in expanding Pakistan’s export presence. He also appreciated the efforts of Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, whose involvement was crucial in making the visit a reality. Furthermore, he praised the Pakistani Embassy in Bangladesh for its unwavering assistance to the delegation.
He mentioned that the delegation is scheduled to meet with officials from the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh, the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Pakistan-Bangladesh Business Forum, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI), and the Feed Industry Association of Bangladesh during the visit.
Chappal voiced optimism that the visit will create new avenues for commerce and collaboration between Pakistan and Bangladesh, allowing Pakistani exporters to contribute more significantly to the country’s economy through increased foreign exchange profits.
Other delegation members include Muhammad Arif Doni, Deputy Leader of the delegation, Shoaib Rauf convener of the delegation, Tanveer Ahmed Paracha Deputy Convener of the delegation, Abdul Rauf Shivani, Teka Mal, Hassan Doni, Sarfraz Ahmed Shiekh, Muhammad Zeeshan Attari, Muhammad Azeem Tahir, Ather Ali Raza, Muhammad Sufyan, Irfan Ahsan, and Mohsin Ali.
