Hangman Adam Page Triumphs Over Jon Moxley in Brutal Texas Death Match at AEW All In Texas
ARLINGTON: In a display of extreme endurance and resilience, Hangman Adam Page secured a hard-fought victory against Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match at AEW All In Texas, hosted at Globe Life Field on Saturday. The main event was a visceral and emotionally intense encounter.
Page, entering as the clear favorite with -850 odds, navigated a chaotic and blood-soaked arena, marked by surprise appearances, intense violence, and the presence of former allies, to ultimately seize the AEW World Championship.
Adding to the drama, Hangman’s arrival was heralded by a live whistling performance of his theme music, which transitioned into his customary entrance track, igniting the Texas audience.
Jon Moxley made his entrance aboard what was humorously termed a “Redneck Chariot” by commentator Jim Ross – a truck transporting the Deathriders.
Despite the ominous presence of barbed wire tables encircling the ring, remarkably, no table bumps had occurred until the main event.
The match stipulations, clarified by announcer Justin Roberts, dictated that victory could only be achieved through knockout or submission, defining characteristics of a Texas Death Match.
Hangman, now holding an impressive 4-1 record in Texas Death Matches, the best in AEW history, immediately set a brutal tone by employing a fork against Moxley while in a triangle choke, drawing first blood.
Moxley retaliated by ensnaring Hangman’s head in barbed wire, while Marina Shafir escalated the violence by biting Page’s forehead.
Shafir further intensified the brutality by introducing a bucket of shattered glass, grinding the shards into a ring corner. Moxley rubbed the glass into Hangman’s face, eliciting chants of “You sick F!” from the captivated audience.
With the crowd backing Hangman, Moxley aimed to powerbomb him onto two steel chairs placed perpendicularly. However, Page countered with a series of headbutts, reversing the situation to deliver a devastating powerbomb of his own onto the chairs’ edges.
Wheeler Yuta’s interference followed, striking Page with a steel chair, but Hangman quickly recovered and neutralized Yuta. Paying homage to Christopher Daniels, Page executed an Angel’s Wings on Moxley, although it didn’t secure a 10-count.
Shafir’s attempt to thwart a Buckshot Lariat by leaping onto Hangman’s back was thwarted as Page countered with a Cowboy Driver through a table. Fueled by adrenaline, he connected with a Deadeye on Moxley, though Claudio Castagnoli and Yuta returned to establish a two-on-one advantage.
Will Ospreay’s attempt to aid Hangman was met with a brutal assault by the Deathriders, resulting in him being stretchered out. Moxley exploited the situation, executing a suplex through two barbed-wire tables.
As blood continued to flow, the commentary team analyzed the extreme violence. Excalibur bluntly stated, “This is exactly what a Texas Death Match should be.”
Moxley came close to choking out Hangman with a Bulldog Choke, but Page managed to beat the count. Enduring a Death Rider on a steel chair, Page once again narrowly avoided being counted out.
Just as Moxley and the Deathriders appeared poised to end the match, Darby Allin dramatically descended from the rafters, vowing to take everything from Moxley. This prompted Bryan Danielson to intervene, attacking the Deathriders to even the odds.
Hangman executed two Buckshot Lariats and a Deadeye through a table. Shafir, in a last-ditch effort, helped Moxley to his feet before the 10-count, only to be met with a double superkick from the Young Bucks.
Moxley and Shafir then introduced a bed of nails to a strong reaction from the crowd. Mox stomped Hangman onto the nails, followed by a Paradigm Shift. Remarkably, Page defied the odds and beat the count once more.
A pivotal moment occurred when Prince Nana handcuffed Shafir to the timekeeper’s table before Swerve Strickland appeared, incapacitating the Young Bucks with the same chain Page had gifted him on Collision. Showing respect, Swerve returned the chain to Page.
Hangman utilized the chain to choke Moxley, then unleashed a Buckshot Lariat onto the bed of nails. He followed up with another chain-assisted chokehold, leading Moxley to finally submit, triggering the loudest ovation of the night.
In a fitting conclusion, Hangman Adam Page revealed the vintage AEW World Championship belt, marking his successful return to prominence in AEW.
