Woakes Shares Encouraging Recovery Update

England’s fast bowler, Chris Woakes, has offered positive updates regarding his recovery from a dislocated shoulder. The injury occurred during the final Test match against India.

Following a rigorous Test series against India, England is now preparing for the Ashes series in Australia later this year.

Woakes, who sustained the shoulder injury while fielding during the fifth Test, revealed his rehabilitation is progressing more favorably than initially anticipated.

While at The Hundred event, Woakes spoke with Sky Sports, appearing without a sling. He stated:

“This is certainly good news for me, and it’s the best way to consider the situation,” Woakes told Sky Sports.

“Being out of the sling, I feel as though I can move it with greater ease, which is a positive sign two weeks post-injury.”

“As movement improves, it feels more normal. However, there’s still a significant amount of work ahead.”

“I’m going to remain focused on rehab, strengthening it as much as possible. The goal is to avoid surgery for the time being, but we will monitor progress and hopefully regain full strength.”

Earlier in the month, the 36-year-old shared with BBC Sport that he was weighing his treatment options, considering both surgery and rehabilitation.

The England seamer dislocated his shoulder on the first day of the crucial series-deciding Test at The Oval.

Despite being ruled out for the remainder of the match, he appeared to bat on the final morning with his left arm supported by a sling, as England pursued a series victory but narrowly missed the target by six runs.

Woakes’ encouraging recovery news provides a boost for England as they approach the five-Test Ashes series against Australia, slated to commence on November 21.
