Ben Askren Hospitalized with Pneumonia, Wife Asks for Prayers
Amy Askren, the wife of former MMA fighter Ben Askren, has requested prayers for her husband, who was hospitalized last week due to severe health complications.
Reports indicate that the former world champion is currently battling a serious case of pneumonia.
Ben’s wife conveyed her appreciation to fans and the MMA community for their outpouring of support and well wishes, urging them to continue sending prayers for the former champion.
“Feeling so incredibly thankful for our friends and community,” Amy shared.
“It’s times like this that remind you how truly blessed you are.
“I feel God moving through the love and support we have received. I’m sorry if I haven’t had the chance to respond to you, but know I’ve seen your messages, and each one has meant so much to me.
“Please keep praying for Ben.”
Askren, a distinguished amateur wrestler from the USA, secured the Bellator welterweight title in October 2010 and maintained dominance in the division for three years.
Following four successful title defenses, he transitioned to ONE Championship, where he also claimed the championship in the same weight class.
Askren officially retired from MMA in November 2019, holding a record of 19 wins and 2 losses.
Despite lacking a boxing background, he once faced YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a boxing match, where he suffered a TKO defeat in the first round.
