White Sox Secure Six Wins in Their Last Seven Contests
CHICAGO: The Chicago White Sox showcased their offensive capabilities, amassing 18 hits and launching four home runs in a dominant 12-5 victory against the Chicago Cubs at Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday.
Adrian Houser (6-2) pitched effectively, conceding three runs over six and two-thirds innings while recording three strikeouts to clinch his fourth straight win. This triumph marks the White Sox’s sixth win in their past seven games.
The South Siders quickly targeted Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga (7-4), who experienced one of the most challenging performances of his MLB career.
The left-handed pitcher allowed seven runs on 12 hits in just over three innings, equaling the shortest start of his major league career.
Lenyn Sosa’s two-run single initiated a three-run first inning for the White Sox, and the power display continued with solo home runs from Chase Meidroth, Colson Montgomery, Austin Slater, and Mike Tauchman.
Slater commenced the fourth inning with a homer and concluded the night with two hits, three runs, and one RBI. Meidroth contributed with three hits and three runs, while catcher Edgar Quero remained productive, going four for five with a double.
Montgomery’s homer marked his third consecutive game with a home run, providing him with seven RBIs during that period.
The Cubs managed nine hits in the defeat, with Reese McGuire’s three-run homer in the seventh and an RBI single in the ninth as highlights. Vidal Brujan added three hits for the North Siders.
White Sox star Luis Robert Jr. was absent from the game due to a sore adductor but had extended his hitting streak to nine games on Thursday.
The series continues on Saturday, with the Cubs’ Cade Horton scheduled to face White Sox pitcher Aaron Civale.
