Waseem to Clash with Ireneo for World Gold Bantamweight Title on May 10

Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem is preparing to compete for the World Gold Bantamweight Title on May 10. The contest will take place at the Polo and Saddle Club in Quetta, which is hosting its inaugural International World Boxing Championship.

The event, supported by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the Balochistan government, represents a significant moment for boxing in the region.

The championship includes three to four major title bouts, with the headline event being a 12-round match for the World Gold Bantamweight title. Muhammad Waseem from Pakistan will face Ernesto Ireneo of Venezuela.

Boxers from various countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, are scheduled to participate, drawing international attention to the event.

All fighters have been approved by the World Boxing Association (WBA).

Pakistani celebrities like Ali Zafar and Ayesha Omar are expected to attend, blending sports with entertainment.

Muhammad Waseem, a celebrated Pakistani professional boxer, is making his return to international competition after a two-year absence.

His last fight was against Jaba Memishishi from Georgia in Malta. He is now managed by Manny Pacquiao’s promotional firm.

“Fighting for a world title in Quetta has been my dream,” Waseem stated.

With a record of 13 wins out of 15 fights, including nine knockouts, Waseem aims to participate in several world title fights in 2025, hoping to secure two different championships.

Waseem started his career at nine years old and has represented Pakistan, winning a gold medal at the World Combat Games (2010), bronze and silver medals at the Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014), and a bronze medal at the Asian Games (2001).

He is also the first Pakistani boxer to both win and defend a WBC Silver title.
