Warriors’ Jimmy Butler Suffers Injury in Playoff Game
The Golden State Warriors are facing a tough challenge as star forward Jimmy Butler sustained a pelvic contusion during Thursday’s playoff contest against the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center.
Injury Details
The injury occurred in the first quarter following a collision with Houston’s Amen Thompson. Although Butler initially returned to his feet, he was soon forced to leave the game and did not return.
Initial Assessment and Further Tests
Preliminary X-rays taken at the Toyota Center showed no significant damage. However, an MRI is scheduled to assess the full extent of the injury and determine Butler’s availability moving forward.
“Jimmy always says he’s going to be fine,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr commented. “But we have to wait and see with the MRI.”
Coach Kerr mentioned that the collision with Thompson appeared accidental.
“We didn’t think there was anything wrong with the play,” Kerr stated. “It was just one of those plays.”
Warriors’ Loss
Without Butler, the Warriors suffered a 109-94 defeat. Despite Stephen Curry’s impressive performance with 20 points, nine assists, and five rebounds, the team couldn’t match the Rockets’ intensity.
Looking Ahead
Kerr expressed optimism that Butler might recover in time for Game 3 on Sunday but acknowledged the uncertainty.
“Hopefully, Jimmy will be able to play, but if not, we’ll have to explore our options and come up with a plan,” Kerr added.
With this victory, the playoff series is now level at 1-1, making the upcoming third game pivotal.
